GATES

Often a gate is the first impression a visitor has of your home or business & if you have just completed your fencing, the gate is the important final instalment for your project. Steel is the most used material for gates. A gate made from tubular steel will be strong and durable. A gate can have infill panels made of wrought iron, colorbond, or timber which increases the design options for your gates. The metal work is galvanized, or hot dipped so are very strong & durable & a great choice for security reasons. Most gates are fabricated to your selected size depending on whatever your needs may be. With so many options of materials to choose from you can match with existing fencing, combine materials, introduce bright colours, make a feature of something bold or have inserts of names/designs. Keep in mind that the gates are the only part of the fence which moves, so they can get a bit of a hard time & do need to be cared for & maintained. Smaller gates will generally last longer as they don’t have the weight of the bigger heavier gates. They can come with manual accessories, motorised, solar powered, wireless keypads, remotes etc. If you require a new fence & gates for your property, the price will not alter much if you get 2 singles or 1 double as you still have the same amount of area to cover. The only way you may save a bit is if the materials you are using comes in certain length panels, where it may plan to design the widths of gates to eliminate any waste and cutting sections to correct sizing. Often 2 single gates can be used side by side rather than going to the wider double gates, these can be a combination of the same size as 2x singles or 1x single & 1x large single.
Single gates are used for personal access only but are still wide enough to push the lawn mower through, kids bikes & a BBQ at a push. The standard single gate width being about 1000mm, which of course you can get manufactured wider to a large single dependent on your needs.
Double gates come in sizes from 3m wide & are most used for entrance gates, driveways, side lock up for boats/caravans, security gates for businesses etc
Sliding gates look great and require little maintenance. They are ideal in situations where the access point is quite wide & the intended gate is also wide. There needs to be an area for the gate to slide into when it opens along the ground track without intruding into anything. A concrete footing must be installed for all sliding gates which will be included in your quoted price. They are secure & affordable, & they can be automated by power, solar or manually operated.
Swinging gates are a great alternative if space is an issue & no room for a sliding gate to open. They are cheaper to install than a sliding gate& can also be automated by power, solar or manually operated.
Bi-folding gates are ideal if you have limited space as they are installed trackless & generally, have 2 panels hinged together that fold up like a concertina in one direction. When closed these look-like double gates but only open to one side. Generally 1 of the bi-fold gates is used frequently & the other used on occasional openings for trailer, caravans boat opening etc.
Automatic & Solar gates can be installed on small single driveway gates through to large double industrial security gates. Materials can be aluminium, colorbond steel, or timber. They come with remote control key rings & the operation is both smooth & quiet. If power is a problem, solar powered motors are a popular & fantastic alternative.
Both power & solar gates come with several optional extras including wireless keypads flashing lights, auto close sensors & dual-purpose remote operations.
Security gates are usually of the same material, style & height as the fencing. The metal work is galvanized, or hot dipped so very strong, durable & a great choice for security reasons. Most gates are fabricated to your selected size depending on whatever your needs. They are usually at least a double width & can be swing, sliding, electric, solar with remotes, keypads etc.
